Sufficient Word Ministerial Fraternal

Please join us for our next Sufficient Word Ministerial Fraternal luncheon to be held at Multnomah University Reno-Tahoe on Friday, January 15, 2010 -- 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  The campus is located at 1100 Kietzke Lane, Reno (between Plumb and Mill).

Special Guest Speaker
Chris Chun, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Church history
Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary
Mill Valley, California

Dr. Chun’s research at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland was focused on the legacy of Jonathan Edwards on the eighteenth and nineteenth century Baptists in Britain, in particular the Edwardsean legacy as manifested in the theology of Andrew Fuller.  He will be speaking (along with John Piper and other Reformed Baptist notables) in an upcoming conference “Baptists and the Cross:  Contemporary and Historical Perspectives” at The Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville Kentucky.  His topic for his presentation will be “Jonathan Edwards on the Atonement:  How ‘Limited’ is Particular Redemption?”

No matter your own views on this subject, you will be greatly blessed to hear Dr. Chun --a world-class lecturer -- and then have the opportunity to engage him in question & answer.
These events also afford those of us in the often difficult pilgrimage of ministry/leadership a rare and always uplifting fellowship with other men who treasure Jesus Christ, the sufficiency of God’s Word and the sovereignty of His grace [our common ground].

John McKendricks, the newly appointed director of Multnomah’s Reno Tahoe site, will also be briefly greeting the gathering to introduce us to the current course offerings and direction the Bible College and Seminary programs are taking.  John comes to us after serving at King’s College and Seminary in Van Nuys, California.

We will be providing lunch (there is no cost to you), but we would ask that you would you please RSVP to Gary Wheeler at Grace Community Church, Minden (775-782-6516).

By all means feel free to invite other men in ministry, whether pastors, missionaries, elders, deacons, serious Bible students or other men involved in your church who would enjoy and profit from attending – we are built up and build bridges to other men by sharing our life of service to Christ in this way.

We look forward to seeing you on the 15th,

Paul Brandt
