When the Light Shines

Text: Luke 8:21-26

Jesus uses a proverb about how light shines to remind Christians that they are meant to live in light of Jesus’ teachings and blessings. Jesus also reminds those who haven’t trusted Christ that his light will expose all sin at the day of judgement, which should remind all to trust Christ today.

  1. What is the basic picture of the proverb in Luke 8:16?
  2. How does the fact that God knows all things help us in our temptation?
  3. What does verse 18 mean? How can we live in light of this teaching?
  4. Hearing and doing are meant to go hand in hand in the Christian faith. How are you tempted to only hear without actually doing?
